On the evening of August 28th and August 29th, 2009, Ralph Ammer and five computers will be collaborating in drawing thousands of stick figures onto the walls of Zionskirche in Berlin. What sort of pictures will emerge when a huge crowd of individuals plays by simple social rules? In these digital cave paintings mass phenomena dominate singular protagonists and form moving social images.ss

For more than 50 years Richard Avedon was one of the biggest names in the fashion industry being the first to break down the barrier between so-called serious and non-serious photography. He was employed by Harpers Bazaar, later by Vogue, then in 1992 ended up as the weekly New Yorker’s first regular staff photographer.

Arthur Szyk is considered one of the 20th century’s most important political caricaturists and illustrators. He confronted the threat of National Socialism in his sketches and drawings years before the beginning of the Second World War. The exhibition presents Arthur Szyk’s oeuvre in the form of a representative cross-section which focuses particularly on the artist’s inventive, detailed political caricatures.

London architect Zaha Hadid designed the Chanel Mobile Art pavilion, which has already made a stop in Tokyo. The structure is made of lightweight panels that are packed in 51 shippable containers. Each participating artist was asked to create a work that was at least in part inspired by Chanel’s classic 2.55 quilted-style chain handbag.

The pavilion will occupy the Rumsey Playfield, midpark at 70th Street NYC, from Oct 20 to Nov 9 2008.
